SIMON Cox is relishing the Christmas presence of a strike partner at Southend United.

Cox - who had been an isolated figure for the Shrimpers in recent weeks - was joined in attack by Theo Robinson against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

And, after the duo both scored in a 3-0 win, Cox is hopeful a two man strikeforce can be the sign of things to come.

“It was great to have Theo up there on Saturday, he stretched the play and it allowed me to have more space,” said Cox.

“It went well and if that’s the way we continue then great but the main thing is making sure we get another win.

“We don’t want to be a team who wins one, then loses one.

“We want to be consistent but we know Rochdale are going to be tough to beat at the weekend.”

Blues now sit 12th in the League One table and will head into Saturday's clash on the back of their Christmas party in Ireland.

"To have our Christmas party off the back of a win like that was perfect and it's always great for team bonding," said Cox.

"The fancy dress costumes were great but now we're back to business and focusing on what will be another difficult game this weekend."
