SOUTHEND United goalkeeper Mark Oxley will make his 100th appearance for the Shrimpers when he lines up against Rochdale at Roots Hall tomorrow.

And the shot-stopper’s statistics since signing for Blues from Hibernian in 2016 prove just how well he has done in League One.

Of all Southend’s goalkeepers to have played 100 matches or more, Oxley has the joint second highest number of clean sheets.

The 28-year-old has kept 31 clean sheets in 99 games to see him level with Tommy Scannell.

The only goalkeeper above them both is Daniel Bentley who managed 38 clean sheets in his first 100 games.

Oxley also sits fifth in the charts for the fewest number of goals conceded in the first 100 games for the Shrimpers.

Oxley has let in 129 goals in 99 games with only Darryl Flahavan (126), Trevor Roberts (122), Mervyn Cawston (115) and Daniel Bentley (91) above him.

Oxley has also kept 17 clean sheets for Blues during 2018 and was voted the club’s player of the year last season.

The shot-stopper also started the current campaign as the club’s new captain but lost the armband after being sent off for violent conduct in a 2-1 defeat against Charlton Athletic in September at Roots Hall.

Oxley has since regained his starting slot between the sticks and will be aiming to secure more shut-outs during the busy Christmas period.
