SOUTHEND United right-back Elvis Bwomono does not want his longest ever run in the first team to come to an end.

Bwomono has started the last seven games for the Shrimpers in place of the injured Jason Demetriou.

And the youngster, who looks set to keep his place in the back four for today’s game with Gillingham, is keen to keep on impressing.

“I’m really enjoying my run in the team and it’s great that the manager has shown faith in me to give me the games,” said Bwomono.

“I want to keep that going in 2019 and get as many minutes as possible and obviously as many points as we can get too, starting against Gillingham.”

But Bwomono is expecting a tough test against the Kent club.

“I made my debut against Gillingham and played against them earlier on in the season and they were both difficult games,” said the defender.

“I’m sure this will be the same but we want to bounce back from Saturday and get the three points.”
