ROCHFORD Hundred’s director of rugby Chris Green has spoken of his delight after signing Chris Dudman.

The former Westcliff full-back, who has played internationally for Malta, has made the move to Magnolia Road after finishing a spell in Romania.

And Green is thrilled to have brought Dudman to the club.

“Chris is someone who has played a lot of his career in the league above the one we’re in now and it’s a great signing for us so we’re really pleased,” said Green.

“He’s been playing abroad in Romania but his contract there ended just before Christmas so he approached us about coming in.

“He’s friends with a few of the lads already here and came to watch our game against Southend.

“He knows all about what we’re trying to achieve here and he’s someone who can play in a few different positions.

“He’s another goal-kicking option for us and has pace so we can’t wait for him to get started with us.”

Rochford won London Two North East without losing a single game last season and have taken that fine form into the current campaign.

Hundred are currently top of the London One standings, eight points clear of second-placed Colchester, having won all 14 of their matches this term.

But Green is still keen to improve and strengthen his squad.

“You need to get stronger and bring in the players while you’re strong and that’s what we’re doing,” said Green, who had previously worked with Dudman as a coach at Seevic College.

“We have a strong squad but we want to improve and bringing in players like Chris is going to make sure that happens.

“He can play in a few different positions and I’m sure he will fit in well because he’s a good player”

Dudman will be pushing to make his debut when the league leaders head to HAC tomorrow.

Rochford have not played since beating local rivals Southend Saxons 44-0 in mid-December.

But Green is confident Hundred will be able to continue from where they left off.

“We trained four times over Christmas so everyone is in good shape and we’re looking forward to getting going again,” said Green.

“This is going to be one of our hardest away games we have left but we’ll approach it in the right way to get the result we want.”

HAC are currently fourth in the table having been beaten just four times in their first 14 games of the season.

However, one of those defeats came at Rochford back in September when Hundred won convincingly, 54-27.
