CANVEY Island will be looking to register a fourth consecutive away win when they visit Bury Town this weekend.

Just a solitary point separates eighth-placed Bury and the Gulls, who are ninth in the Isthmian North standings.

And Canvey boss Mark Bentley is hoping to see his side leapfrog their hosts come 5pm tomorrow.

“They are in and around us and it’s important we do what we have been doing away from home,” said Bentley.

“We have won three on the bounce away, so we will be going there with confidence and the feeling in the squad is good.

“Our aim is to pick up a good result and continue to build momentum.”

The Gulls head to Suffolk having ended their poor run of home form.

A brace of goals from Adam Vyse allowed Canvey to secure a 2-1 win over Mildenhall Town having suffered four consecutive defeats at the Frost Hire Stadium.

The three points also saw the Gulls register back-to-back wins for the first time this season and Bentley, who is aiming to make at least one signing before tomorrow’s clash, believes a similar performance to last week will ensure Canvey return to south Essex with a positive result.

“It was a bit of a relief to win after poor recent home form,” added Bentley.

“Mildenhall belied what a second from bottom team should be like in the first 25 minutes.

“But our second half display was the best since I came here.”
