TAYLOR Moore is 50/50 for Southend United’s clash with Plymouth Argyle this weekend
The on loan Bristol City defender suffered a hamstring injury during Tuesday night’s defeat to Portsmouth in the Checkatrade Trophy at Roots Hall.
But Blues boss Chris Powell is relieved the 21-year-old will not be facing an extended spell on the sidelines.
“Taylor’s injury is not as bad as we first thought,” said Powell who feared Moore would be missing for a ‘number of matches’.
“But from experience I know that with hamstrings sometimes you think you’re OK but then you run at full pelt and it can be a bit different.
“He’s 50/50 for Saturday but I wouldn’t rule him out.
“He’s a bit of a soldier and loves playing.
“But, as I always say, if you miss one game to play in the next 10 then that’s better than playing in one and missing the next 10.
“If he’s missing we will just have to get on with it.
“We’ve been a patched up side all season and whoever is selected will just get on with it.”
Michael Turner looks set to partner John White at the heart of the back four if Moore is unavailable.
But the Shrimpers will definitely be missing striker Theo Robinson who will be serving a one match suspension after his recent red card against Gillingham.
