SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell is keen to sign another striker before the end of the January transfer window.
Powell brought in forward Stephen Humphrys from Fulham last week.
But the Shrimpers chief is still keen to bolster his attacking options.
“I still feel like I’m a striker short,” said Powell.
“We have Jason Demetriou and Harry Lennon coming back soon so I don’t feel as though we need any more defensive players.
“We’ve got a big squad and Ron (Martin) has been great with backing me. We’ve got two in with Stephen Humphrys and Sam Hart signing but I still want one more to give us that firepower and competition because we want to keep on pushing the boys. I like to get two strikers on the pitch but it’s not always possible.”
However, Powell has yet to receive an offer for any of his players.
“People have enquired but haven’t backed that up,” said the Blues boss.
“No one has come in with any firm bids in regards with temporary or permanent moves but I’m sure things will hot up next week.”
