ECHOSPORT talks to keen Bristol Rovers fan Jamie Hedges ahead of tomorrow’s game at Roots Hall.

What have you made of Bristol Rovers’ season so far?

“Our season has been very mixed. Under Darrell Clarke we were expansive.

“We created numerous chances which we failed to convert and therefore struggled to score goals.

“We eventually parted ways and we have picked up recently however still leaving ourselves in 23rd place due to other sides’ good form too.”

Former Shrimpers Graham Coughlan is now in charge. What have you made of him as manager?

“I’m a fan of Graham Coughlan’s tenure so far.

“He started very well as caretaker manager in galvanising the squad and taking us back to basics.

“We are fairly resilient and have been effective in front of goal until we came unstuck against Wycombe and a few questions were asked. Overall, he’s been decent so far and has sured us up at the back.”

Why do you feel this season hasn’t gone as well as hoped?

“A mixture of things. Things under Darrell Clarke went a bit stale, down to poor recruitment, stubborn tactics and stubborn team selections.

“This left us in a poor position and with our squad definitely underachieving.

“It doesn’t take a genius to see that our main downfall has been a lack of goals, summed up by our top scorer in the league being our centre midfielder Ollie Clarke with four goals.”

What are the hopes for the rest of the season?

“For me and all of our fanbase it has to be survival at all costs.

“We’ve gone through absolutely everything to get ourselves back as a stable League One club over recent years and to throw it away would be disastrous.”

Who would you say is the main dangerman?

“Honestly, when you say the word dangerman it strikes me as an attacking player but all of ours are low on confidence, out of form or just poor players.”

Predicted starting line-up: Bonham, James Clarke, Lockyer, Craig, Holmes-Dennis, Rodman, Lines, Ollie Clarke, Sercombe, Nichols, Reilly.
