SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell has called on his players to ‘wear the shirt with pride’ when he returns to Charlton Athletic tomorrow.
Blues have been beaten in their last two outings.
And Powell is keen to see a vastly improved display from the Shrimpers at the Valley.
“We know it’s tough and that our options are limited but whoever is fit has to go out there and wear the shirt with pride for Southend United,” said Powell.
“We didn’t wear the shirt with pride last week against Bristol Rovers and we needed to show more courage, which eventually we did.
“But it wasn’t right for our supporters.
“It wasn’t what they expect and it’s not what I expect either.
“So we need to show more pride and quality at a place I know well this weekend.”
