RUGBY: Jack Jones insists Westcliff will be determined to get back on track when they host Guildford in the London & SE Premier Division tomorrow.

Third placed Westcliff were beaten 21-19 by second placed Wimbledon last time out.

And Jones is eager to immediately return to winning ways at the Gables.

“We are all hugely determined to get the win at the weekend,” said Jones.

“We want to make the Gables a fortress and being the last season there before the big clubhouse move we are very motivated to bounce back and put a good performance in.”

Westcliff remain just five points behind table-topping Sutton & Epsom.

But Jones is still frustrated not to be closer to the league leaders after suffering a narrow setback at Wimbledon.

“It was immensely frustrating at Wimbledon as it was a real chance to come away with another win,” said Jones.

“But we had several injuries and unavailable players which is inevitable at this level, so with that said we have actually taken some real positives from it.”

Westcliff were without a fixture last weekend, enabling their injured players to get closer to full fitness.

And Jones feels the rest has done Westcliff good.

“A week off is always a welcome break in this era of rugby,” said Jones.

“The game is more physically and mentally demanding so having some time to get some well needed rest and recuperation can only be a good thing.

“But, with that being said, we are all excited to get back out at home in front of another excellent crowd and put on a good performance and get that all important win.”

However, Jones knows seventh placed Guildford will be hard to beat.

“Guildford is always a tough game,” he added.
