SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell feels the Shrimpers are ‘far stronger’ for having the fit-again Harry Lennon back in the squad.

Lennon, who had been out since October with a broken leg, was on the bench for Blues at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

And Powell is pleased the centre-back is now nearing a return to action.

“Harry is nowhere near where he wants to be but we’re stronger with him in the group,” said Powell.

“Fans haven’t really seen him yet but he’s a hell of a player.

“We’ve just got to get him on the pitch sooner rather than later because he will add to us.

“He’s got pace, real determination and can play out from the back.

“He’s a strong, no nonsense defender and the fans will like him but we’ve got get him out there.

“His determination will rub off on others and he knows the games. “

Lennon joined Blues from Charlton Athletic in the summer but has made just two starts so far this season.
