ECHOSPORT talks to keen Doncaster Rovers fan Andy Glover ahead of tonight’s clash at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Doncaster are currently sixth in the League One standings and have games in hand on most of the teams above them in the table. What has been your take on the season so far?

“It has been fantastic and way more than anyone expected.

“We’ve been playing some fantastic football and we’re even having a good cup run for first time in years.”

What were the expectations before the season got underway?

“With not knowing much about the new manager, Grant McCann, the majority of fans wrote him off as he wasn’t a big man.

“I think most of us would have taken mid-table but we’ve been doing fantastically well.”

Now the season has been going so well what are your hopes for the remainder of the campaign?

“We’re in the play-off places at the moment with games in hand and we’re playing good football so I can’t see why we shouldn’t aim for automatic promotion.

“The players and the manager certainly believe it’s possible.”

Who would you say is the Doncaster dangerman?

“We’ve had so many this season which is great.

“John Marquis is carrying on his fine goalscoring form while James Coppinger seems to be getting younger every season.

“Mallik Wilks who we have on loan from Leeds is also causing mayhem to back fours but I would say Herbie Kane, who is on loan from Liverpool, is the main dangerman.

“He’s a fantastic young talent who I can see going far in the game.”

Could the team be distracted by the FA Cup clash with Crystal Palace this weekend?

“McCann is a great believer in one game at once.

“You can’t fault anyone for getting excited for the FA Cup but hopefully he drills it into them to take each game as it comes, especially with us being well placed in the League.”
