BILLERICAY Town face the prospect of competing in two encounters in the space of 48 hours, but boss Harry Wheeler insists his side are fully focused on beating Oxford City tomorrow.

Town head to Oxford, who are 14th in the standings, having achieved four consecutive National League South wins.

And Wheeler, whose side also head to Wealdstone on Monday night, is keen to register a fifth triumph on the bounce.

“We are aware that we have got a game tomorrow and on Monday, but we haven’t even been speaking about playing Wealdstone yet,” said Wheeler.

“All of our attention has been on Oxford because we are taking it game-by-game and they are a good side.

“They are good going forward and had a good cup run earlier in the season, like they did last term.

“Oxford have got some good players going forward who can cause some problems, so we know that we have to be in good form if we are to come out with another win.

“But we will be going there looking to continue our good form and hopefully we will be able to start the week with another win.”

Billericay suffered a 3-2 defeat to Oxford in the return fixture in December.

The reverse started a poor run of form which saw Town claim just nine points from the next 24 on offer.

Dean Brennan departed as Billericay manager after the disappointing run of form, but the club is yet to lose a National League South fixture since Wheeler returned to the AGP Arena for a second spell in charge.

And Wheeler is full of praise for his players after enjoying a successful start to life back at Billericay.

“It has been very pleasing to get points on the board and the boys have kept reaching the targets we have been setting,” added Wheeler.

“I wouldn’t say that this is a season-defining week but getting some wins would go a long way to ensuring we are in the play-offs come the end of the season.”
