MICHAEL Klass is keen for Southend United to build on their stunning fightback against Portsmouth.

The Shrimpers fought back from three goals down to draw 3-3 with the Hampshire club at Roots Hall last weekend.

And Klass is now eager to help Blues pick up more points when they head to Accrington Stanley tomorrow.

“It was a great ending for us against Portsmouth and we did well to come back and get a point but we have to make sure we build on that now,” said the 20-year-old midfielder.

“It wasn’t a great start and it was tough coming on when we were 2-0 down.

“We conceded again shortly afterwards but we did really well to draw in the end and now we have to make sure we start off playing that way when we go to Accrington.

“But it will be a difficult game there.”

Klass impressed off the bench against Portsmouth and is now pushing for a start at Accrington.

And the midfielder is beginning to feel more at home in the first team.

“The more I play and the more minutes I get the more confident I feel,” said Klass.

“When I came on against Portsmouth I tried to make sure I got on the ball as much as possible and tried to be confident in everything I did.

“I think it’s the best I’ve played in the first team but I have to back it up now next time I get a chance.

“If that’s this weekend then that would be great and of course it’s a game we want three points from because it’s a little while since we won a game now.”

The Shrimpers have not triumphed since beating Bradford City 4-0 in mid-January and are currently 13th in the table, one place higher than Accrington Stanley.
