MARK Bentley is relieved that Canvey Island are back on the road this weekend.
The Gulls will visit seventh-placed AFC Sudbury for an Isthmian North clash tomorrow.
Canvey, who are ninth in the standings, will have to contend with playing on an artificial surface and Bentley wants his side to heap more misery on their hosts after Sudbury lost 5-1 to Maldon & Tiptree in midweek.
“Our home form has been disastrous,” said the Gulls boss.
“We have won only three at the Frost Hire Stadium since I took over in January, so I’m pleased we’re playing away from home again.
“Our form on the road has been better and that might be because the pressure is off, so we’re playing better.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game and it will be played on astroturf.
“They will go into the game after a heavy home defeat in midweek and we need to jump all over that.
“They’re similar to us in that they are unlikely to be in the play-offs come the end of the season and I just want the players to enjoy and express themselves.”
