JAKE Robinson cannot wait to be back in a Billericay Town shirt after rejoining the National League South high-flyers.

Robinson has returned to the AGP Arena after a three-month spell with Maidstone United.

And the striker, who is set to feature in tomorrow's National League South clash at home to Torquay United, insists he did not want to leave Billericay in the first place.

“I’m really pleased to be back,” said Robinson.

“I don’t think it was ever in doubt that I didn’t want to leave.

“I had such a good time here but it was something I was told had to be done for the health of the club and other things that were going on at the time that I wasn’t privy to.

“I was asked to make the move, so I did that for the club.

“I’m grateful to Maidstone United for the change they gave me and for putting faith in me.

“Unfortunately, it was one of those things where it just didn’t work out.

“There were a number of factors as to why, like being cup-tied for the FA Trophy and getting an injury that I sustained while scoring my first goal for the club.

“These things happen in football and when the change came up to come back here, it was a no-brainer for me.

“It feels like I’ve just been out on loan for a few months and hopefully we can still turn this into a successful season.”
