STEVE Butterworth felt Great Wakering Rovers were unfortunate not to claim all three points at Heybridge Swifts.

Wakering travelled to the Aspen Waite Arena having beaten Julian Dicks’ Swifts in the reverse fixture.

The visitors defended well and created a number of presentable chances but were made to settle for a goalless draw.

And Butterworth was pleased with how his side performed against the Isthmian North promotion chasers.

The Wakering interim player-manager said: “We put in a good performance and, in a way, it was a missed opportunity.

“You could argue that we deserved all three points because we created some really good chances.

“There was a half decent crowd and although the pitch wasn’t as good as it usually is there, it was much better than most places.

“We had quite a good go and it was a disciplined first half performance because we sat in and let them have the ball.

“They didn’t create any clear-cut chances whatsoever, so I was pleased with the first half performance.

“We had more of a go in the second half and we had three really chances.

“Matt Rush hit the crossbar, Jake Gordon went through one-on-one and Sham (Shomari Barnwell) was five yards out and he couldn’t get the ball out of his feet.”
