BLACKPOOL boss Terry McPhillips felt a point was the least his side deserved against Southend United.
A stoppage time own goal from Taylor Moore saw the hosts hold the Shrimpers to a 2-2 draw at Bloomfield Road.
But McPhillips thought Blackpool were by far the better team in the second half.
“I thought we should have won the game but we conceded off two poor corners where we’ve got to do better,” McPhillips told the Blackpool Gazette.
“I thought we murdered them in the second half and the least we deserved was that goal at the end. But it’s football and you don’t always get what you deserve.
“We got the goal though and it was probably hard to write that ending but these lads have got a never say die attitude.”
Blackpool were roared on by close to 16,000 fans who celebrated the end of a controversial regime.
And McPhillips - whose side are eighth in the League One standings - was quick to praise the supporters.
“I thought the crowd were magnificent and I thought the players gave back to the crowd,” said McPhillips.
“It was an exciting end and reminiscent of the Bradford game earlier in the season when we came back to win 3-2. The only difference this time is there were loads of fans here.”
However, some fans came onto the pitch to celebrate Blackpool’s late equaliser and McPhillips feels that could come at a cost.
“There probably will be repercussions but, in their defence, I don’t think anyone got injured,” McPhillips added.
“The fans sung their hearts out.”
