JAMES Miller is the latest Southend United fan to have his say on the happenings at Roots Hall.

TEN points from 10 games.

Sounds simple when you put it like that but this is the situation Southend United potentially find themselves in if they are to play in League One again next season.

Since the turn of the millennium no team has been relegated from the third tier with a total of 52 points.

The sheer amount of teams in between Southend and the drop zone makes you feel like the situation isn’t as worrying as it is but with some tough games to come and the injury situation somehow getting worse rather than better every point we can pick up could be crucial come May.

You know things are bad when Sammy the Shrimp is struggling to be fit for each game!

The way the side collapsed against an albeit very good 10 man Barnsley side a week on Saturday shows the lack of confidence and leadership in the team at the moment.

After the game Stephen McLaughlin accepted the 3-0 loss was unacceptable and that the club is in a relegation battle.

Hopefully the rest of the team feel the same way and things can start to turn around quickly.

The club also announced  that we have the fifth highest budget in the division.

If relegation is to happen the clear-out would have to be instrumental and there would be immediate fears to what state we’d be in next season.

The quicker we can get the points on board the better.

If not Sunderland’s visit to Roots Hall on the 4th of May could prove to be decisive for both club’s league placing next season.

Let’s hope the 10 points are gained by then.
