JOHN Coventry was frustrated to see East Thurrock United's winning run come to an end as Oxford City recorded a 1-0 victory.

Three points would have seen Rocks climb out of the National League South drop zone, but Kyran Wiltshire's 17th minute effort proved to be the only goal of the contest at Rookery Hill.

Ryan Scott was denied a leveller by a fingertip save from Oxford goalkeeper Craig King, while Amos Nasha struck the crossbar directly from a corner.

But Coventry conceded his side did not deserve anything from the clash.

"The conditions were terrible and it was a horrible game to be involved in," said the Rocks boss.

"Form goes out of the window in those conditions and we had been going into the games with a good attitude in recent weeks.

"But Oxford were more prepared to roll their sleeves up and we didn't deserve anything from the game.

"We need to be on it 100 per cent in every game if we want to get out of the position we find ourselves in.

"But we weren't and that was the most frustrating thing."
