SOUTHEND United have yet to make a move for Adam Barrett - despite the odds shortening on the former Blues defender becoming the club’s new manager,

Barrett, who made 354 appearances for the Shrimpers during his playing career, is now 1/3 with Sky Bet to replace Chris Powell at Roots Hall.

But Echosport understands no talks have taken place with the 39-year-old.

Barrett is currently first team coach at Championship club Millwall but it is understood he has not been approached by Blues chairman Ron Martin.

The Shrimpers are currently 20th in the League One standings having gone 11 games without a win.

Blues are currently above the relegation zone on goal difference and face a huge clash with fellow strugglers Shrewsbury Town at Roots Hall this weekend.

Ricky Duncan, the club’s academy manager, is expected to remain in charge for the game.
