ROCHFORD Hundred will be looking to wrap up the London One North title with a win at Old Priorians tomorrow.

Rochford are currently top of the table having won all 23 of their matches this term.

And Hundred’s Chris Shields is determined to keep the good run going.

“This Saturday is huge in that the title will officially be ours if we win,” said Shields, who joined from Southend Saxons in the summer.

“We’re all very excited and can’t wait for the game.”

Rochford sit 14 points clear of second-placed Colchester with just three games to go and extended their unbeaten run with a hard-fought 27-19 win at Eton Manor last weekend.

But Shields was not completely satisfied with the performance.

“The game on Saturday was quite frustrating,” said Shields.

“We had a slow start and didn’t come out with the right mindset.

“Having a few injures in the team didn’t help that either but we switched on after 10 minutes and secured the bonus point win in the end which was the most important thing.”

Rochford have now scored 1,272 points this term while conceding just 208.

And Shields has thoroughly enjoyed his part in the success.

“This season has been very fun and enjoyable for me, playing with close friends and winning every game so far has been a bonus,” said Shields.

“But nothing is going to change for the rest of the season.

“We’re going to stay focused and play every game as a cup final because we want to go unbeaten for the whole season and pick up maximum points.”
