TICKETS are now on sale for the Sid Broomfield Trophy.

The clash sees the Southend United League One winning squad from 2006 getting back together to play against the Colchester United side that finished second that season.

And Blues legend Adam Barrett, who is organising the match alongside Echosport’s Chris Phillips, is keen to see a healthy crowd in attendance at Roots Hall to raise as much money as possible for Havens Hospices.

“It’s looking like a great night and it’s for a great cause so it would be brilliant if we could get a few fans there,” said Barrett.

“We’re all really looking forward to it and we’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve been shown in putting the game together.

“We’re thankful for the club for helping us to sale the tickets and also for the Shrimpers Trust who have been kind enough to sell them online for us which is great.

“We just hope lots of people go and buy them now.”

Tickets have been priced at £5 adults and £1 concessions - for those under 18 and above 60 - and can be bought from the Shrimpers’ ticket office at Roots Hall with cash only.

Alternatively, fans can buy their tickets here with an additional charge to have them posted.

The match takes place on Monday May 20 and kicks off at 7.30pm, with tickets also available to buy on the night.

Both squads are subject to change but the former players expected to be in attendance at this stage are as follows.

Southend United: Darryl Flahavan, Duncan Jupp, Lewis Hunt, Andy Edwards, Adam Barrett, Che Wilson, Lee Bradbury, Mark Gower, Kevin Maher, Luke Guttridge, Mark Bentley, Wayne Gray, Freddy Eastwood, Steve Tilson and Paul Brush.

Shaun Goater is also hoping to attend but will confirm in the next two weeks while the match will be officiated by former Premier League referee Andy D’Urso.

Colchester United: Mark Cousins, Pat Baldwin, George Elokobi, Wayne Brown, Sam Stockley, John White, Garry Richards, Karl Duguid, Neil Danns, Kevin Watson, Johnnie Jackson, Kevin McLeod, Mark Yeates, Chris Iwelumo, Craig Fagan, Gareth Williams, Kem Izzet & Craig Hughes.

The match has been organised to help with Barrett’s and Phillips’ fundraising for the London Marathon later this month.
