Three Storm Rugby Academy players have been scouted to trial for Premiership champions Saracens.

Wilson Ijeh, 17, Seth Mokuolu, 16, and Theo Legrand, 18, were all scouted while representing the Thundersley-based college at the Rosslyn Park Sevens Tournament, the world’s largest school rugby tournament.

The tournament took place over two days and the college made it to the semi-finals against some tough competition.

And Ijeh was delighted to advance so far.

“The sevens tournament at Rosslyn Park has put us in a good position for the AoC National Finals in a few weeks,” said Ijeh.

“I am proud of the team, especially those who were scouted, as none of us expected it.”

The Storm Rugby Academy are currently back-to-back gold medallists at the AoC Nationals Championships and are looking to make this the third consecutive year they bring home the championship title.

Director of rugby Danny Cleare added: “The college has grown a lot over the years to have a very successful rugby programme.

“Getting to the semi-finals in the Rosslyn Park Sevens Tournament is one of our biggest accomplishments to date and the team surpassed my expectations to do so well in what is such a prestigious competition.

“In total, 180 teams entered and to make the last six is an amazing achievement, especially when competing against schools with a proud rugby history.”

But the college remains determined to create a proud history of their own and Mokuolu was pleased to have helped the team impress once again while also attracting attention from the Saracens scouts.

“I was really shocked when I was scouted,” said Mokuolu.

“I think it means more to me as I have only been playing rugby for less than a year.

“I never thought I would have this opportunity and I am excited for the trials.”

And Legrand echoed those sentiments.

“I am grateful for the chance to trial,” said Legrand.

“I don’t think I would have been selected if it wasn’t for the college.”

The Storm Rugby Academy is open to all students who study at USP College and the team competes to the highest standard of college rugby.

The college hosts trial days for all their sports academies.
