SOUTHEND United fans feel Saturday’s crunch clash with Wycombe Wanderers is even bigger than when the two sides met at Wembley back in 2015.
The Shrimpers memorably beat the Chairboys on penalties in the League Two play-off final that afternoon but 55 per cent of supporters in an online Echosport poll which attracted almost 1,100 votes feel this weekend’s game at Roots Hall carries even more significance.
And keen Blues fan Danny Moss is desperate to see Kevin Bond’s side secure all three points as they bid to beat the drop.
“This is bigger than Wembley,” said Moss.
“If we don’t win we’re relying on other clubs to slip but if we win it’s in our own hands.”
The Shrimpers are 21st in the standings, one point and one place below Wycombe who sit just above the relegation zone.
