SIMON Cox wants dropping into the bottom four to be a wake-up call for Southend United.
The 21st-placed Shrimpers face a crunch clash with fellow strugglers Wycombe Wanderers, who sit just one place and one point above them, at Roots Hall tomorrow.
And Cox is keen for Blues to get back to their best as they bid to beat the drop.
“We’re in the bottom four now but that might be the wake-up call we need,” said the striker.
“We know full well that every single game we have left is vital for us, starting tomorrow.
“It’s a massive match, we know there’s a lot at stake and we know the situation we’re in.
“We have to stand up and work hard but we also have to play the game and not the occasion because of the position we find ourselves in right now.”
