KEVIN Bond opted not to name Taylor Moore in Southend United’s squad for Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.
The on loan Bristol City defender has now started just two of the Shrimpers’ last seven matches.
And Bond confirmed he chose not to select Moore in the squad due to Wycombe’s physicality.
“We wanted attacking options on the bench and I also went with Michael Turner on the bench because of the type of threat Wycombe have,” said Bond.
“They’re big and strong so we went with Michael but it was very difficult to make tactical changes because we lost Jason Demetriou to injury in the first half and Sam Hart was limping for about 20 minutes in the second.
“We had to be careful we didn’t end up playing with 10 men.”
However, did choose to start with Stephen Humphrys in attack for the first time since the striker suffered horrific facial injuries against Accrington Stanley in February.
But the Blues boss is fully aware Humphrys is not yet back to his best.
“We know Stephen is off it but he gives the place a boost by picking him,” added Bond.
