SOUTHEND United defender Jason Demetriou will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Demetriou hobbled off during the first half of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.
And Blues boss Kevin Bond has now confirmed Demetriou will now need his second operation of the season.
“Jason won’t play anymore this season and I know that he needs a small operation on his knee,” said Bond.
“It’s the same one he had the operation on earlier on in the season and it’s wicked he needs another op because he’s a great kid.
“Hopefully he will be back for pre-season but right now my focus is on playing Walsall and nothing else.”
Demetriou has been restricted to 22 League starts this season
