BLUES boss Kevin Bond feels there is only a ‘slim chance’ Stephen Humphrys will be available for Monday's clash with Burton Albion.

Humphrys had returned from horrific facial injuries to feature against both Fleetwood Town and Wycombe Wanderers.

But the striker was missing from the squad for Friday’s 1-1 draw at Walsall and Bond is unsure when Humphrys will be fit enough to return.

“I’ve explained the back story with Stephen already but he’s not really fit and there’s only a slim chance he will be involved against Burton,” said Bond.

“It was remarkable he put himself forward to play in the games he did but he’s nowhere near being fit really.”

Humphrys broke his nose and also fractured his cheekbone and eye socket when scoring against Accrington Stanley at the end of February.

The 21-year-old suffered 15 broken bones after colliding with Stanley goalkeeper Jonny Maxted and spent close to six weeks on the sidelines before making his return.

Humphrys, who will require another operation at the end of the season, wore a protective mask during both games he featured in.

But Bond opted to recall Harry Bunn alongside Simon Cox in attack on Friday.

Midfielder Timothee Dieng was also left out of the squad at Walsall but not because of injury.
