HARRY Bunn helped fire Southend United to a 3-2 victory against Burton Albion and will continue to do all he can to avoid the ‘worst feeling’ in football.

Bunn, who bagged Blues’ second goal in today's crucial win at Roots Hall, was relegated from League One with his parent club Bury last season.

And the 26-year-old is desperate to avoid a repeat.

“Unfortunately I went down with Bury last year and I definitely don’t want that feeling again,” said Bunn.

“It’s the worst feeling I’ve had in my career and I don’t want to go through it ever again.

“I wouldn’t say it’s given me extra motivation because none of the lads want relegation and I think everyone can see this does mean everything to us.”

The Shrimpers’ victory against the Brewers was their first at Roots Hall since beating Gillingham on New Year’s Day.

And Bunn was pleased to see Blues work their way out of the relegation zone.

“It’s been a long time coming, especially at home, but the boys dug in and we deserved it,” said Bunn, who has now scored two goals in his last three games.

“We’ve been working hard and to finally get a win is a great feeling.

“It was nice to score as well but it was all about the three points so that meant more to be honest.”

Blues had gone 15 games without a victory before facing Burton and had also failed to win in their last nine outings at Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers had failed to score in their previous four home games but Bunn is now enjoying working for new Shrimpers boss Kevin Bond, who replaced Chris Powell in charge last month

“I respect both of them and they’re both great managers who have similar ideas,” said Bunn.

“I think we had to look at ourselves under the previous manager.

“It’s us who go out there to play and it’s cost the old manager his job but we have to move on.

“We’re doing what the new manager wants and at the moment that’s working.”

But Bunn is fully aware Blues must build on the victory.

“This win will make a massive difference to us,” said Bunn.

“It’s hard when you’re going game after game trying to get a win and it’s not coming but we’ve got the result now.

“There are still things we need to work on and maybe we should be seeing out games better.

“But hopefully we can get three points at Rochdale now too.”

Blues will head into Saturday’s game sitting 19th in the table, one point above the relegation zone.
