CANVEY Island are looking to register three consecutive wins for the first time this season when they visit Brentwood Town tomorrow.

The Gulls make the short trip having recorded back-to-back victories against Mildenhall Town and Basildon United over the course of the last week.

And Canvey could bring the curtain down on the campaign by finishing as high as seventh in the Isthmian North standings with another three points.

“I want to win every game we’re involved in and all of the lads are playing for their shirts,” said Canvey boss Mark Bentley.

“The players have done well in the last few weeks.

“Although we didn’t play particularly well at Mildenhall, we got the late goals to win and we followed that up with another victory over Basildon.

“I want us to finish as high as we can in the table.

“If we manage to finish in seventh that would at least allow us to finish the season on a positive note.

“Brentwood are a funny team because they seem to either win by a few goals or lose by a few goals.

“But we’ll be going there looking to win and if we do that then we will go into the summer in a good frame of mind.”

And former Southend United midfielder Bentley believes the campaign is ending at the wrong time for his side.

“We’ve got two good wins in the last week,” added Bentley.

“We should be winning those games on paper, but we all know that games are not won on paper.

“It’s pleasing to have got into a good run of form, but it’s come too late for us.”
