KEVIN Bond does not know if tomorrow’s game will be his last in charge of Southend United.

Bond was brought in for the final six games of the season.

But he remains hopeful of helping the Shrimpers stay up and has yet to think about what will happen following Saturday’s clash with Sunderland.

“I have no idea what will happen,” said Bond.

“I’ve enjoyed it here and everyone has been brilliant with me.

“The lads have been brilliant and bought into everything we’ve tried to do.

“But at this stage all I’m focusing on is tomorrow and trying to stay in the League.

“Come 8pm on Saturday the focus will change to next season and there’s a lot of work to be done.”

Bond replaced Chris Powell in charge of the Shrimpers and has taken five points from his first five games at the club.

And Bond has relished his return to the game.

“I’ve loved being back on the training ground with the players but Saturday will depend if there’s a happy ending or not,” said Bond.

“I can only do so much but we’ll all be giving it everything on Saturday.”

Tomorrow’s clash with Sunderland kicks off at 5.30pm at Roots Hall, with only a few tickets still remaining in the home end.

The game will also be shown live on Sky Sports.
