Well done - Chris Powell has congratulated Southend United on avoiding relegation
FORMER Southend United manager Chris Powell has congratulated the Shrimpers on avoiding relegation.
Blues stayed in League One after beating Sunderland 2-1 at Roots Hall on Saturday.
And Powell, who was dismissed in March, has praised the side for their character.
Powell tweeted: "It wasn't the season any of us wanted, but I'd just like to congratulate the players, staff and supporters of Southend. Tremendous character shown; I'm so pleased for you all. Sending my best wishes."
