ELVIS Bwomono believes Southend United will be stronger for surviving in League One this season.

The Shrimpers right-back led the celebrations after Saturday’s 2-1 win against Sunderland saw Kevin Bond’s side avoid relegation.

But Bwomono is determined to make sure Blues are far higher up the standings next term.

“Staying up was the biggest relief of my life but we can’t get through that again,” said the 20-year-old.

“Towards the start of the season I thought we would be among the favourites to go up but then things started to go against us.

“But I really do think we have a good group here and after a good rest we’ll be ready to prove that next season. We should do well and be much higher up.”
