SOUTHEND & EMT skipper Scott Simmons is confident his side can still enjoy a good season – despite their slow start.
Southend, who were relegated from the Premier Division last term, have lost their first three games of the new campaign.
But Simmons is certain that things will soon start to improve.
“The season has started off a little tougher than expected but with many positives coming from the first few games,” said Simmons.
“The new players are bedding in well and finding their feet.
“We have a brand new team this season and I am more than confident we have the quality to compete and win games.”
Southend will be hoping to show that when they host Upminster this weekend.
And Simmons is looking forward to the rest of the season.
“This season is really exciting for the club” said Simmons.
“With all the changes everyone has a little to prove but most importantly we want to go out and really enjoy our cricket without any pressure every week with a smile on our face and express ourselves with our own brand of cricket.
“If we do that I know the results will take care of themselves and we will finish where we deserve come September.”
