Southend Saxons have announced the signing of Ben Law from Bishop’s Stortford.

The versatile, athletic forward covers both the front row and back row.

And Law is overjoyed to have made the switch to Warners Bridge.

“I am excited for a new challenge and a new setting,” said Law.

“This opportunity gives me a great chance to gain experience and develop my skills in another league.

“I am looking forward to pre-season and I am glad to have had everything sorted this early.

“The club and its players seem like a good environment to be a part of.

“I have also been lucky to play sevens with the Nomads, of which some feature in the Southend team.

“From speaking to Josh (Ward) it is clear the intention is to gain promotion and solidify Southend’s National League status.

“I aim to be a contributing factor to that in the club’s 150th year.”

Law has also represented Hertfordshire during his career and Saxons’ director of rugby Josh Ward is pleased to have brought him to the club.

“We’re really pleased to add Ben to our squad,” said the director of rugby.

“Ben’s got a real energy and desire to challenge himself, push on and develop as a player which is an excellent mindset to have.

“He covers a number of positions which again is of huge benefit when being limited to an 18-man matchday squad.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing Ben settle in.”
