SOUTHEND United manager Kevin Bond is keen to organise one more pre-season friendly for his Shrimpers side.

Bond has been busily arranging Blues’ warm-up fixtures ahead of the forthcoming League One season.

But the 61-year-old is keen to add another game to the schedule.

“From a pre-season front we’re pretty much there,” said Bond.

“We just have one fixture to organise.

“It’s been difficult because most people already had their pre-season organised.

“Trying to get one has been hard and we’re one light but other than that we’re OK and I’m happy with it.”

The Shrimpers will face Billericay Town, Millwall and Dagenham & Redbridge during pre-season, which will also include a trip to Dorset.

And that training camp will see Blues playing two more friendlies in quick succession.

“We play Weymouth on the way down and then play Exeter behind closed doors the day we leave,” said Bond.

“It won’t be at Exeter’s ground, it will be elsewhere but that trip will do us good.

“We’re going down to Woodbury and it’s a place I know well as I’ve been there with most of the clubs I’ve been at.

“It’s a nice environment there and we will get some good training under our belts which will do us good as we get ready for the season ahead.

“We also have the two games so everyone will get the minutes they need.”
