BENFLEET will be keen to remain at the top of the Division Two standings by beating Oakfield Parkonians tomorrow.

The newly-promoted side have made an impressive start to the campaign and were denied victory for the first time last weekend.

A sterling performance by David Jarrett, who scored an unbeaten 54 with the bat, allowed Benfleet to leave Wickford with a point.

And captain Rob Zammit is hoping Benfleet can take advantage of home conditions at Woodside Park.

“We love playing at home and we’re comfortable with our own conditions,” said Zammit.

“Each pitch is different and we like playing in our familiar surroundings.

“But we won’t take anything for granted because we know Oakfield Parkonians are a good team.

“It’s another opportunity for us to test ourselves and we’re relishing the challenge.”

Wickford could count themselves unfortunate not to beat table-topping Benfleet last weekend.

But Wickford will be seeking a second triumph of the season when they visit South Woodford tomorrow.

Wickford are currently sixth in the Division Two standings, while South Woodford prop up the 10-team table.

South Woodford are one of just two sides in the division yet to taste victory this term, so Wickford will be confident of returning to winning ways at Highfield Road this weekend.

But Wickford, who are skippered by Chirag Desai, will be aware that South Woodford’s disappointing run of form could lead to them being keen to prove doubters wrong.
