FORMER Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Lyden is to train with Southend United during pre-season.
Lyden spent 14 years at Villa Park before being released at the end of the previous campaign.
And Blues boss Kevin Bond confirmed Lyden would now be training with the Shrimpers.
“Jordan is coming in to just train with us at the moment,” said Bond.
“He’s a great guy and a great pro and is coming in to get fit so we can assess him.”
Lyden made eight appearances for Villa, including four in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old also made 14 appearances while on loan with Oldham Athletic in League Two last season.
