HADLEIGH & Thundersley suffered a five wicket defeat against table-topping Brentwood but skipper Adam Dobson was still proud of the pereformance.

Hadleigh batted first and made 151/8 in a game reduced to 36 overs because of the wet weather.

Adam Soilleux top scored with 48 before Brentwood made it home for the loss of five wickets.

And Dobson, who took 2-15 with the ball, felt the hosts had the better of the conditions.

“It was a very close game where the toss played a big part,” said Dobson.

“Unfortunately, we lost the toss and were made to bat in the worst of the conditions.

“But I was very proud of the team performance to get us to a reasonable score that we came very close to defending.

“We pushed them very close and could have easily won that game.

“Brentwood are a very strong team so it was pleasing to see the team perform well and nearly get the win against the odds.”
