RICHARD Taylor is certain joining Southend United will benefit his career in the long-term.
The 18-year-old centre-back was snapped up by the Shrimpers after being released by Premier League side Burnley at the end of last season.
But Taylor is confident being with Blues will see him sample first team football far earlier.
“I’m really happy to be at Southend United and I think there are more opportunities for young players at this level,” said Taylor.
“I think the style Southend play suits me and I’ve enjoyed being with the first team for pre-season.
“My aim is to try and make sure I stay in contention now and I want to make my first team debut this season.
“That’s my number one aim and what I’m working towards.”
