SIMON Cox and Timothee Dieng are back in training for Southend United.

The duo did not feature in any of the Shrimpers' pre-season friendlies after picking up calf injuries.

But Blues boss Kevin Bond is pleased to see them back in action.

"We had a couple of the boys who have had longer term injuries back with us yesterday for the first time," said Bond.

"It’s good for us and them and when they’re fit it will bring more competition to places."

Striker Cox top scored for Blues with 17 goals last season and was also voted player of the year while Dieng played 50 times in the centre of the park last term.
