HARRY Wheeler feels Billericay Town must train with a different agenda following their defeat to Hemel Hempstead Town.

A trio of late goals resulted in Billericay falling to a 3-0 loss at Vauxhall Road.

And Wheeler feels things need to change if his side are to reach their goal of earning promotion from the National League South.

The Billericay boss said: “We need to go into training with a bit of a different agenda.

“We need a bit more steel and continuity.

“If we can do that, you might see a different side and hopefully we can start pushing on.”

The clash between Billericay and Hemel remained goalless until the 82nd minute.

However, a close range effort from former Concord Rangers winger Liam Nash was followed by a Ricardo German brace as Hemel emerged victorious.

And Wheeler admits Billericay’s players had an in-depth discussion after the setback.

“There wasn’t a lot in the game until the last 20 minutes,” added Wheeler, who is enjoying his second spell in charge at the Steel Team Stadium.

“We paid for changes that were made.

“But we lose together and learn together.

“That’s the biggest thing – you win or you learn.

“We say that a lot and we have learnt from the game.

“We had a very productive chat which was open and honest in the changing room with the group.

“It’s better to do it seven games in rather than 27 games into the season, when the league might be running away from us.

“It was a very productive day in terms of education for us on the side and the players.

“I think it told us where we need to be and what we need to do.

“We know what we need to stop doing on and off the pitch, but it was not productive in terms of the result.”

And Wheeler believes Billericay lost their edge after Matt Rhead was substituted.

“I think losing Rheady resulted in us losing the platform to build on,” admitted Wheeler.

“Although not everything that came off him and into him was polished, we still lost that platform and everyone learns from that experience.”
