WESTCLIFF are keen to get their own back on Sutton & Epsom this weekend.

The two teams were promoted alongside each other into National Two South last season.

But scrum half Henry Morrant is determined to come out on top tomorrow as Westcliff bid to secure their first success of the season after enduring three successive defeats.

“There’s no looking past the next few weeks, with all three of our next matches against teams on similar points to us,” said Morrant.

“It all starts with this week against Sutton, who we know pretty well from last year and definitely owe one to as I think the aggregate score across their two wins against us last year was three points.”

However, Morrant knows the hosts will be hard to beat.

“They’ll be well organised like they were last year and will obviously have looked to improve,” said Morrant.

“But we’re hoping to leave with a win.”

And that would also see Westcliff pick up their first success of the season after a tricky start to life in National Two South.

“Obviously it’s been a tough start losing the first three, but getting so close in our two home games is definitely positive and means we also came away with at least some points,” said Morrant.

“There’s always going to be a step up, but I think we have also stepped up.

“The level of coaching has been met with enthusiasm from all the lads, so that together has seriously pushed us on.”
