DANNY Scopes insists Concord Rangers are ‘raring to go’ as they return to competitive action for the first time in 14 days.

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle, the Beach Boys were without a fixture last weekend.

And Scopes’ side are eager to make up for lost time when Chippenham Town head to the Aspect Arena for a National League South clash tomorrow.

“I think it’s been quite good having a break and it came at the right time for us,” said the Concord boss.

“We’ve suffered a few defeats and the break has allowed us to focus on what was needed.

“It’s given us time to go through what we needed to work on and we’re raring to go.

“I would rather us being in the FA Cup, but I’m hoping that we have used the break wisely.”

The Beach Boys are three points better off than Chippenham and sit 10th in the standings.

And Scopes prepared his players for their latest challenge by competing in a friendly with Isthmian Premier League outfit Cheshunt in midweek.

Goals from Lamar Reynolds, Jack Cawley and Decarrey Sheriff allowed Concord to record a 3-1 win.

“It was ideal preparation for the Chippenham game,” added Scopes.

“We got some very good minutes into the players’ legs and that was important after some time away from the pitch.

“It was a good exercise and some youngsters impressed me.

“We finished with five under-17s and some under-18s.

“I want to give the youngsters chances in the team.”
