ROCHFORD Hundred continued their unbeaten start to the London & SE Premier Division season with a 24-9 win against Tunbridge Wells.
The victory was Rochford’s sixth in succession at the start of the current campaign.
And Hundred’s fly-half Cameron Greenhall was happy to have triumphed in the testing conditions.
“Saturday’s game was tough,” said Greenhall.
“The wet conditions meant the game was very stop-start and so we couldn’t get into our flow.
“We kicked more than usual and played a territorial game but, of course, it was great to get a bonus point win.”
Rochford have now gone 54 games without defeat and have still not lost since April 2017.
And Greenhall has been impressed by how Hundred have dealt with the step up in standard.
“We are pleased with our start to the new season,” said the fly-half.
“We’ve had six bonus point wins from six games and we are now getting into a rhythm on the field. Of course the standard has increased since last year.
“Our defence is being tested more and more teams are kicking to gain field position.”
Rochford’s latest win saw Aston Bevans-Royston, Harry Hudson, Danny Cleare and Mac Duaibe all score tries. And the victory set Rochford up for Saturday’s clash with Wimbledon, who are also unbeaten this season.
“We hope to keep this winning streak going and keep playing exciting rugby,” said Greenhall.
“We’ve got a big week of preparation before heading to Wimbledon on Saturday.”
