DANNY Scopes hopes Concord Rangers will enjoy a psychological boost this weekend.

The Beach Boys are set to welcome Hungerford Town, who prop up the National League South table, to the Aspect Arena tomorrow.

And Scopes is eager to pick up all three points having seen his side suffer four consecutive defeats in all competitions.

The Concord boss said: “We have been stuck on 17 points for a while now.

“If we can secure a win and get to the 20-point mark, that would be a nice milestone.

“There are not many games in the National League South this weekend, so it is a good opportunity for us to climb the table and that would give the players a psychological boost.”

With numerous clubs still involved in the FA Cup this weekend, only three National League South fixtures are scheduled to take place.

Concord could take advantage by climbing from 12th place to eighth spot in the standings.

And the Beach Boys may be boosted as numerous key players, such as Joel Nouble, are nearing full fitness following a spell in the sidelines.

“We are having to be careful with a few players,” added Scopes.

“There are 15 players who are not among our long-term injury absentees and they have all trained this week.

“But it’s important not to rush those that have been out straight back into the side.

“We have been easing them into the team again and they will only get into the starting line-up when they are ready.

“I have got a selection headache this weekend.”
