SOUTHEND United’s fans have been reacting to Sol Campbell’s appointment as manager.
He’s got a bit of a free hit for the rest of this season as we looked doomed long before he got here. But if by some absolute miracle he turns it around then his stock goes through the roof.

Great appointments (not just Sol but him and his whole backroom team - especially Tony Colbert). Much more creditability than Larsson. Given our current form if he gets even one point from our next three games (Ipswich, Sunderland, Portsmouth) he’ll be hailed as a miracle worker!
@garrygen
It’s the most sensible of the possible appointments. But Tuesday night showed again how few of our squad have the ability and character to be in League One. So a slightly less embarrassing relegation and a huge clear-out is our best hope.
@moorhouse79
Just need to get behind him and give him the time he deserves. Hopefully the three-year contract is seen as a long-term project and rash decisions won’t be made. It’s rebuilding time for the whole club.

Sol is the right man. He should not be expected to keep us up. All we can ask is he gets some professionalism back and gets players doing their jobs. In the summer we can clear-out and start again in League Two. But for now all we can ask for is to be competitive again.

A big presence is needed to turn this sinking ship around and Sol Campbell is that. He has a huge job on his hands and must be given time to do it. He can’t be judged on where we finish this season. We need stability now. Best of luck to him, he’s going to need it.
@documartin
Not 100 per cent convinced by the Sol Campbell appointment but time will tell. Gets my full support though and needs to be given this season and the start of next at least.
@joepayne_
Great appointment. No chance of surviving this season but hope the three-year tenure is part of the rebuilding plan. Really need to get behind him and get the buzz back at the games and lift the atmosphere.
@tezza_sufc
It’s an exciting appointment and if Sol and his team can replicate the unbelievable work they did at Macclesfield Town then we will be fine!
