BILLERICAY Town’s National League South clash with Weymouth has been postponed after an early morning break-in led to the New Lodge pitch being vandalised.

Two vehicles were driven onto the turf, leading to the playing surface being damaged.

And Billericay have released a statement confirming the fixture’s postponement.

The club statement read: "We are sad to report that, following a break-in during the early hours of Saturday morning, our pitch has sustained damage from two vehicles that were driven around the playing surface.

"That, couple with the recent heavy rain, has resulted in today's game being postponed.

"The incident has been reported to the police and CCTV footage has been obtained.

"The pitch damage will be swiftly rectified.

"The Billericay Town Football Club family is bigger than incidents of this nature."
