Southend United fans have their say on defeat at Sunderland

Felt that they were there for the taking but we lacked that cutting edge. Clear that Sol is making an impact but it could take time. Too many wayward passes and despite a fair bit of possession it never looked like it would come to anything. Great to see Rush come on though.

Poor display against a Sunderland team that weren’t impressive either. We lost possession too easily and never looked like scoring. The season ahead looks bleak.

Supporters,give the players and the management a chance. It will not be easy but you can see they are giving their best. Two good performances.

Disappointed the boys didn’t really come out of second gear. Too slow and never got any real rhythm going although we had two very good chances to come away with something against a Sunderland side who weren’t firing on all cylinders.

We only lost 1-0 and we passed the ball around a bit. Bishop looked better overall than Oxley but needs to take more care when kicking out. He got away with a couple that could have ended up in the back of our net.

Much improved defensively from Southend and positives to take back to Essex that is for sure. Bring on Portsmouth on Tuesday.

Improved defensively. A lot of work still to do but sad to think a 1-0 defeat is a decent result but that sort of sums us up collectively.

Sunderland were marginally the better team. We could have got something if the ref had awarded a penalty when Hopper was wrestled to the ground in the first half.

Feels odd to be happy with a 1-0 defeat but I am. We no longer look like a team that is going to just roll over. Sol is clearly making positive change. Whether it will be enough to get us out of this mess remains to be seen but it’s a good start.

Well it’s a start, even though it’s another defeat. Campbell has got his work cut out to turn this around but he talks well and is enthusiastic about the challenge. But we need to start winning and soon! I’m sick and tired losing every week.

Only conceding one is an improvement, I get that, but we’re lacking passion. We need 11 players who have eight, who don’t just watch the ball being played.
